แนวการสอนไวยากรณ์ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษา ( Articles)
หลักการใช้ Articles ( a, an, the )
1. articles คือ คำนำหน้าคำนาม (noun) แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ชนิด คือ Definite articles และ Indefinite articles
2. Definite articles คือ คำนำหน้าคำนามที่ชี้เฉพาะ the ใช้ได้ทั้งคำนามนับได้ (countable noun) และนามนับไม่ได้ (uncountable noun)
3. Indefinite articles คือ คำนำหน้าคำนามที่ไม่ชี้เฉพาะ a, an ใช้ได้กับคำนามนับได้เอกพจน์ (singular countable noun) เท่านั้น
ARTICLES คือ คำนำหน้าคำนาม (nouns) ในภาษาอังกฤษมี 3 คำคือ a, an, the แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ชนิด คือ
1. Definite article ( คำนำหน้าคำนามที่ชี้เฉพาะ) คือ the
2. Indefinite article (คำนำหน้าคำนามที่ไม่ชี้เฉพาะ) คือ a, an
Definite article
the จะใช้กับคำนามเอกพจน์ (singular nouns), คำนามพหูพจน์ (plular nouns) ทั้งนับได้และนับไม่ได้ แต่จะใช้ในกรณีที่ต้องการชี้เฉพาะเจาะจงเท่านั้น ( ตำแหน่งของ the ที่ใช้กับคำนามนับได้และคำนามนับไม่ได้มีทั้งหมด 10 ข้อ แต่ในระดับประถมศึกษาจะไม่ลงลึกจึงไม่ขอพูดถึงข้อมูลในจุดนั้น)
Indefinite article
A, An คือคำนำหน้าคำนามที่ไม่ชี้เฉพาะในภาษาอังกฤษใช้กับคำนามนับได้เอกพจน์(singular countable noun)
A ใช้ได้กับคำนามนับได้เอกพจน์ (singular countable noun) ที่มีเสียงตัวแรกเป็นพยัญชนะ (consonant) เช่น
a book หนังสือ 1 เล่ม
a boy เด็กผู้ชาย 1 คน
a gray elephant ช้างสีเทา 1 ตัว
An ใช้นำหน้าคำนามเอกพจน์ (singular countable noun) ที่เสียงตัวแรกเป็นสระ (vowel) เช่น
an eye ตา 1 ดวง
an orange ส้ม 1 ผล
an hour 1 ชั่วโมง
A, An มีหลักการใช้ดังนี้
1. ใช้ในความหมายทั่วไป
A cat has four legs.
He is a doctor.
2. แสดงจำนวน " หนึ่ง "
I have a book.
This is a cat on a table.
3. ในความหมาย " ต่อหนึ่ง "
twice a week.
10 baht a day.
4. วลี (phrase) เหล่านี้จะต้องมี a เสมอ
It's a pity >> น่าเสียดาย
be in a hurry >> รีบร้อน
as a rule >> โดยปกติ
It's a shame >> น่าละอาย
all of a sudden >> ปุปปับ
a short time >> เวลาอันสั้น
a long time >> เวลาอันยาว
Note :
1. a, an จะใช้กับนามเอกพจน์นับได้เสมอถ้านามนั้นเป็นพหูพจน์ไม่สามารถเติม a, an ได้
There is a book on the table.
There are books on the table.
2. ไม่มีการใช้ article ใดๆ หน้าชื่อประเทศ ถนน เมือง บุคคล เมื่อคำนามนั้นเป็นคำนามเฉพาะ (proper noun)
They live in Northbrook on Whitehall Court.
Ms. Draper is going to Czechoslovakia.
แต่ถ้าเราใช้คำนามเฉพาะ (proper noun) ในฐานะ adjective เราสามารถใช้ article นำหน้าได้
Chicago is a large city.
The Chicago fire was very large.
3. ไม่มีการใช้ article หน้าคำนามที่มีชื่อคนอยู่ข้างหน้า

และหน้าคำนามที่มีคำสรรพนามแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของอยู่หน้าคำนาม
